Ich habe gerade gelesen das Innocence (aka Ghost in the Shell 2) als Kandidat für die Oscar Nominierungen eingereicht wurde. Aufgrund der geringen Kopien mit denen er in den US-Kinos gelaufen ist scheinen die Chancen auf eine Nominierung allerdings eher gering zu sein.

"Innocence" in the Running for an Academy Award
"Innocence", the latest project by "Akira" and "Ghost in the Shell" director Mamoru Oshii will be among the feature-length animation candidates for nomination for February 2005's Academy Awards.
This candidacy is different from an official nomination, however. "Innocence" is one of a pool of 11 (including "The Incredibles", "Polar Express", "Shrek 2", etc.), from which three Academy Award nominees will be selected.
Some industry observers have said that, having only had a limited US theater release, the chance "Innocence" will receive a nomination is comparatively slim, but others are more optimistic.
The Academy Award nominees will be announced January 25, and the awards ceremony is February 27.
